Review: Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Seductive Pink! :)

Back to basics and what this blog really is about, a blush review! I have not purchased any blushes for a long time now, but these Creme Puff Blushes from Max Factor I just could not pass when I saw them. So pretty! I picked this one up already a few months ago for the fall season, but did not manage to put up a review then. Here it is now :)

This one is called Seductive Pink. It is a lovely baked blush with two different shades of pink in it. I wanted a pink blush since the peachy tones have been taking over my blush collection. I needed some pink in my life :)

The consistency is absolutely dreamy! It really is almost creamy-like, it is really easy to blend. The pigmentation is ok, it's not the most pigmented one out there but I like that, I can apply this in a dark bathroom light and not worry about it going overboard. The finish is satiny, not glittery at all, it only gives a subtle glow. It is a bit powdery, but not too messy.

The color is a mix of warm and cooler toned pink. It seems to turn out to be on the warmer side on my skin, to me it also looks like it has a hint of berry color in it. I really like it, it's very suitable for winter time and for any season really.

A very easy color for everyday wear and also very easy for quick and easy application. Here's what it looks like on my cheeks. Applied with a synthetic blush brush, those are the ones I prefer these days.

This blush has literally been the only blush I have used since the season turned into fall and winter. After a few months of non-stop use, this is what the blush looks now...

Almost gone! I can really recommend these Creme Puff Blushes, they are amazing for what they are. I will get more colors, I have my eye on the peachy one for the spring.. These retail around 13€ here in Finland, it is a bit pricey for a drugstore product but now that I look back, I don't regret spending my money.. :)

Review: Lumene Arctic Sun Highligting Bronzer! :)

This Arctic Sun Highlighter from Lumene started appearing in Finnish blogs this spring and ever since I have wanted to get my hands on it. I believe this was a part of a limited edition collection last summer and now they repromoted it again. I think it's limited adition again and belive me, that made me want to buy it even more.
As we are starting to move towards winter and holiday makeup collections, I was lucky to find this highlighter on sale for 7€. It was pure happiness and I had to stop myself from buying a back up. I wanted to.

This is something really, really pretty. I also like the concept, it's a highlighting bronzer that works great as a bronzer for fair skin and as a regular highligter for medium to dark skin. It really is genious. And looks pretty too, I am in love.

For my pale skin it works great as a light bronzer, it brings some warmth to my complexion without giving me a tanned look. It also gives a really nice glow, not glittery at all but just satiny glow. That's what the package says, warm natural glow.

Here's a swatch on my not at all tanned complexion. I stayed out of the sun this past summer too, as usual :) This goes on smoothly and it's easy to blend.

I tried to capture the glow on this picture, as you can see it it very subtle and suitable for wearing all over the face, if you wish. I have done so, and it really gives a lovely warm hue and glow for my complexion. I love it and now I regret not getting that back up. This product still seems to be available but if it will be sold out, I really wish Lumene would bring this out again next summer!

Review: Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara!

What would be a better way to return after a long pause of posting than a mascara review? Can't think of any! So here's my review of the Maybelline Lash Sensational Lash Multiplying Waterproof Mascara.

I am a fan of Maybelline waterproof mascaras, mainly because they are consistent with their quality, all of their waterproof mascaras hold my lashes nice and curled all day. So I know when I buy one, it's going to work. I was excited to try the waterproof version of the Lash Sensational because it's been raved about all over Youtube and blogs. I look for volume and separation from my mascara so I really had my hopes up!

The wand it that rubbery type but this one is curved in a way that it has smaller bristles on the top and longer bristles on the bottom. The shorter bristles are also winged in a way that getting the mascara to the outer corner of the lashes is very easy. I use the small bristle side to apply the mascara to the base of my lashes and then spin the wand and use the longer bristles to give length and coverage to the tips of my lashes. I find that this way you get the best results.

The only complaint that I have is that this is a messy one. As you can see, the excess product will make a mess and once it dries, it will dispense dried mascara clumps on to the wand and from there on to my lashes. Application gets more difficult when you have to make sure you don't have clumpy lashes. The wand is too messy to be used on my lower lashes, so I have been using another mascara for that to avoid mess, especially in the mornings when I'm in a horry and have to rush to work. In these pictures I have Max Factor Masterpiece on my lower lashes.

I must say that this mascara does what it promises! You really can achieve very dramatic lashes with this one, if you wish. It seems that I have more lashes and they are nicely curled and separated. The volume is great! It is not the most easiest one to apply but I do like the results! Very nice, once again a good mascara from Maybelline :)

If you haven't already tried this one and you are looking for a good waterproof mascara that gives you volume, give it a go.

Review: Lumene Matt Control Oil-Free Foundation 0 Light Ivory

Lumene has amped up their foundation game! Another new foundation in a very light shade and this time targeted for oily skin...? Yes please!

I didn't really need a new foundation because I've been loving the Blur Foundation a lot. But when I saw that this Matt Control Oil-Free Foundation said "for oily skin" and "full coverage" I had to take it home. The lightest shade is really, really light! I have the shade 0 Light Ivory.

Where the Longwear Blur Foundation is on the thicker side, this one is a lot more runny and liquidy, and in my opinion, a lot more easier to apply and blend. It covers really nicely, I would say it's medium to full coverage. Definitely covers my acne scars and all the redness I may have at that moment. It also holds up nicely! Of course you can extend the time of wear by wearing primer under the foundation. The foundation dries almost to matte finish, so powdering is not necessary. I always prefer a light layer of powder but it's not necessary. The best part is that the shade Light Ivory is really a true light shade. So if you've had trouble finding foundation shades that are light enough for your complexion, now we have another one. Also at affordable price, I paid around 14€ for mine here in Finland.

A couple of things worth mentioning about what I'm not liking about this foundation. First, because it's a full coverage foundation it can look a bit unnatural if you apply too much. Also because it's completely matte, no light reflecting particles in this one. You can try wearing this mixed together with a primer or something like the Strobe Cream from MAC. The other thing I'm not so fond of is that it has a quite strong scent to it. The good thing is that the scent fades away soon after applying.

Right: Lumene Matt Control Oil-Free Foundation 0 Light Ivory
Left: Lumene Longwear Blur Foundation 0 Light Ivory

Here's a color comparison to Lumene Longwear Blur Foundation in 0 Light Ivory. To me the Longwear Blur is a bit darker, so they are not a complete match. I can wear both of them, but I just wanted to let you know that they are not the exact same shade even though the name may say so. Both very light shades though! :)

I love the foundation, but I have to say something about the packaging. The packaging is something we have seen befoce from Lumene, they didn't come out with a new packaging for this foundation, which I find odd. They have a new foundations out in new packaging, one in a glass bottle even. A product this runny should be in a glass bottle in my opinion. The cap gets messy pretty quickly and too much product comes out when you open it.

But overall, a very nice foundation for oily skin. I have used it a lot and I love it. Highly recommend to try it, a really nice option for the more expensive foundations!

Review: Stila In The Light Palette!

I'm sorry for the long posting break! Let's hope I have more time for blogging in the future, now that it's Spring and there's more light to take pictures... :)
But now, here's a review that's been a long time coming. I've been trying to write this review for a while now. I've been using this Stila In The Light Eyeshadow Palette for a few months now and everytime I sit down and try to review this palette for you, nothing comes out.. But I think I know how I really feel about this palette now, so I'm ready. In The Light was on discount on BeautyBay so I ordered it for myself as a Christmas present.Yes, it's been that long...

I've been looking for good quality everyday palette. And by that I mean a palette that really has everything I need to do my eye makeup. That means a matte nude, a shimmery nude and some darker colors for crease or lining. I love my Urban Decay Naked Basics, but as you can see I've been wearing it so much that few of the colors are almost gone. I didn't want to repurchase it so I started to look for a new neutral palette.

In The Light has some great reviews so I decided to go for it. I paid only around 24€, which is not bad at all for 10 quality shadows and an eyeliner. I'm not sure if Stila is discontinuing this palette or not, it still seems to be around so I guess it was just a rumour.

Such a pretty case, it's made out of card board but it still looks fancy and pretty and I love the rose gold detailing. Also it's light so it's good for travelling. The Naked 3 palette is so heavy...if you have it you know what I mean.

What a nice variety of neutrals! You have your basic lighter colors in matte and shimmery finishes, then some lighter browns and darker colors too.  But the reason why I'm not really over the moon with this palette is that there is too many warm colors in here. I still dream of the cool toned palette filled with nude and taupe colors... :)

The palette comes with a Smuge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Damsel. It's a nice dark brown color, goes on so smoothly! Really lovely, it's so good that I'm thinking about ordering a black one too. But the only problem and a huge disappointment is that the twist-up mechanism does not work properly..! I think mine is just broken :(

Here's some swathes taken in cool and warmer lighting. As you can see, many of the colors turn out to look quite warm on my skin.

Bare - An ivory matte, very smooth and pigmented!
Kitten - A shimmery shampagne color. The perfect shimmery lid color.
Bliss - A matte light brown. Looks neutral on the pan but turns out to be more warmer on my skin.
Sunset - A copper toned brown with satin finish.
Sandstone - A very pigmented matte dark brown color. Super pigmented!
Bubbly - A warm golden shimmery shade. So pretty! Very creamy and pigmented, almost a metallic finish.
Guilded Gold - A bronze color with shimmer. This one is not the most pigmented one of the bunch.
Luster - A darker cool toned shimmery brown. Pigmented, but the the most easiest one to blend.
Night Sky - A grey/purple/blue with silver shimmer. Pigmented and very pretty! The gem of the palette.
Ebony - A super pigmented matte black.

Here's the colors I've been wearing the most. I really like Luster, it's the perfect cool toned brown. It has a little bit of gold shimmer but it's not too overpowering. I wish it was just a little bit easier to work with. Surprisingly Night Dust is my other favourite of the darker colors, it looks almost blue in the pan but it's really not that blue on the skin, purple I would say with lovely silvery glitter. Kitten is a lovely shimmery beige color. To me it's too shimmery to be used as a highlighter on the brow bone but I use it all over my lid, it's great for that. But the best part of the palette is Bare. It's the perfect all over lid color for me, it matches my skin tone perfectly. I use it as a base color for everything. Very pigmented and creamy!

From left: Bare, Kitten, Bubbly, Luster & Night Sky + Smudge Stick in Damsel
All and all, a really good palette with variety of colors. I wish there was a little less glitter in some of the colors and then some more cool toned colors. But you can't have everything, I guess..! I've really been enjoying this palette and I know I will be using it a lot towards the Summer.

Hope you found this review helpful! Thanks for reading!

Review: Bourjois Volume 1 Seconde Waterproof Mascara!

As usual, I'm always looking for the best of the best waterproof mascaras. This time I wanted to review one from Bourjois, I had never tried their mascaras so it goes without saying, I was intrigued. This one is their Volume 1 Seconde mascara.

The packaging looks nice, I like the combination of silver and turquoise.

I bought mine at, it seems to be around 13€ at the moment.

The brush is pretty big! As you might remember, I'm not a fan of bigger brushes because they tend to be more messy to use than smaller brushes. This one is quite unique, it has some spikes and some ball shaped bristles mixed together. With the brush it's easy to add volume right at the base of my lashes. But like many other mascara wands, the tip collects too much product and if you don't wipe it off, it can make the application a bit messy. Also the edges of the mascara tube collects excess product and ends up drying, so you must remember to clean that too.

As you can see, it gives nice volume for my lashes. I wish it also would hold my lashes curled but in that area it seems to fail. Ok results though!

Looks pretty good! But unfortunately it doesn't hold my lashes curled for more than 15 minutes. Also I would like that the brush would give my lashes more definition. Instead you can end up with clumpy lashes pretty easily if you try to apply too much. Another thing that bothers me is that during the day there's a lot of fall out, it can look quite messy under the eyes and I don't think anyone likes that. The mascara hasn't dried up or anything, but I think it may be because there can be some dried mascara at the edges of the mascara tube.

But what I do like is that it makes my lashes look thicker and fuller. Also it's very easy to remove! Some waterproof mascaras can be a real pain to remove but not this one. If you are looking for some good volume, you may like this one. It's also affordable. Not available in Finland but you can find it online. I will not repurchase because I want my lashes to stay curled all day, but I like the volume it gives me, so I will happily use this up :)
