Current Favourites May 2014! :)

It's been a while so why not write a few words about the products that I've been loving lately!

Naked 3 has been one of the biggest and most successfull purchases of this year so far, I have been using it a lot more than I expected. I love the colors, especially the darker ones, Darkside and Mugshot are my favourites! Review here.

In the blush and bronzer department I have a few products that I've been reaching more over the others, I've really been loving Dolce Pink from Milani, MAC Melba and then Elf Studio Baked Bronzer in St. Lucia.

Dolce Pink gives a nice flush of color and has been something refreshing to use after using all of those peachy tones for so long. This also matches with my current favourite lip color... Dolce Pink blends like a dream too, you can never go wrong with it! It is quite shimmery but the shimmers aren't chunky.

MAC Powder Blush in Melba is fairly new addition to my blush collection, but I've been loving it a lot, I mean a lot. I really like it, it's something different too. Peachy, but different.

Elf Studio Baked Bronzer in St. Lucia is great for fair skin, it gives a nice glowing color without looking fake of too overwhealming. I've been using it a lot!

Here's some of my eye makeup favourites. After some disappointing mascara experiments I went back to One by One from Maybelline, and I really like it. BrowDrama Sculpting Brow Mascara has replaced a brow pencil from my makeup routine, all I really need is this. It gives color just the right amount and keeps my brows in place. I highly recommend :)

I got Brulee from Wet n Wild  to replace my MAC Blanc Type, and I must say that I like Brulee better! It's more pigmented and covers my red lids better than Blanc Type did. I go through nude eyeshadows quickly because I have to use it in covering purposes, so this is a really inexpensive alternative for Blanc Type. But I think we can't buy Wet n Wild here in Finland anymore, it's sad because I love their eyeshadows, specially the palettes.

On to the lip products! I have fallen in love again with lipgloss, thanks to Urban Decay. I have three of these Naked Lipglosses and Lovechild has really become the favourite one. I love how these glosses feel on the lips, very moisturizing, and I also love the pink hue of color that Lovechild gives. Lovely, just lovely.

I recently got two of the Lip Pens by H&M, and I really been loving the color Love That Pink. This is not a typical lip color for me at all but somehow I've been really loving it. I love the consistency of these too. Read the review here.

MAC Vegas Volt has also become one of the lip favourites for this summer. A bright coral color with a lovely, moisturizing texture. Really lovely!

It is no secret that I love mangos and the Mango range from The Body Shop. I've used the Body Butter, Body Mist and the lotion from this range a lot, so I really wanted the perfume as well. It smells just teeny tiny slightly different than the Body Mist, but still like I've been swimming in a pool of mangos. I'm very picky about perfumes, but this scent has really captured my heart.

I forgot to include on more favourite in the picture, it's my shattered Naked Basics palette from Urban Decay. I've been using the lighter colors a lot as base colors on my lid but then also I've been using Faint as a liner and  Naked 2 as a contour color, surprisingly it works very well in that job since it's super pigmented and neutral toned.

I also wanted to include the Nude Magique BB Powder from L'Oréal, but it was in my last favourites so I left it out. Yes, it's still the only powder I use, I love it.

Any new summer favourites that you think I should try? Let me know :)

Review: Lip Pens by H&M! Papaya Punch & Love That Pink

As you may know, I do love a good bargain! I try to find good quality products with affordable prices and I think I have found some once again. My latest experiment with H&M makeup was not that good, but this time I was really surprised. These twist-up Lip Pens are great stuff :) Here's my quick review and swatches.

First of all, I really like the packaging! Very nice, not cheap looking at all in my opinion.

I got two shades, Love That Pink and Papaya Punch.

Love That Pink is a lighter pink color that seemes to be more on the cool side. Not my choise of color usually, but I have found myself reaching for this over the coral colors recently. It's almost on the border of looking tacky if you apply too much, of course some people can pull off this kind of pinks, but on my fair skin they may look a bit off. But still, I've been loving it!

Papaya Punch is a lovely coral color. Very pretty!

Papaya Punch (top) and Love That Pink
I really like the consistency of these, they feel more like lipbalm, very moisturizing and just lovely.
They wear off pretty easily but I don't mind really, I can reapply and get some moisture on my lips at the same time too. The color payoff is ok, they're quite sheer but still buildable.

These lip pens retail for 3,95€ each but I actually got them 50 % off so mine were under 2€ each. Really nice, I think I will be getting all of the colors.. :)

Review: MAC Amplified Creme Lipstick in Vegas Volt!

Ah, summer! The weather has warmed up where I live, so I'm already in a full summer mood. And you know what that means, it's time to bring out the corals! Coral on my nails, on my toes, on my cheecks and on my lips. Here's my quick review and some swatches of the new MAC lipstick that I got as a Back2Mac. Vegas Volt is, according to MAC, "a full power coral". Well that's what it is!

This is actually my first MAC lip product so I had no idea what kind of formula Amplified Creme was, this was chosen for my by the makeup artist at the MAC counter. I believe it's supposed to be pigmented and vivid but still moisturizing at the same time. I like the sound of that, yes.

The color is definitely bright, but here in the pictures it seems a bit too cool toned, it definitely is more warmer in person. It has a peachy tone to it, but it's still very bright and corally.

It wears pretty well, you definitely get a few hours of wear out of it.  I do have to reapply after eating or drinking. I'm not sure if this formula is supposed to be moisturizing, but I can tell that it doesn't dry my lips. To prevent that from happening, I always wear lipbalm underneath. Feels very comfortable to wear!
With a color this bright it would be a good thing to use lipliner under the lipstick, but I have worn it just on its own and haven't noticed any bleeding. I really like this consistency and I bet my next MAC lipstick will be from this line. I also like the neutral, very light scent of vanilla, it's not bothering at all.

You can see that with just one swipe the color is almost fully opaque, but still you can see that nice creamy shine. Lovely. On the lips it looks more brigter and coral than in these cool toned pictures. It looks very bright against my fair skin, but I don't mind.

If you are looking for a bright coral for the summer, I highly recommend to check out Vegas Volt! I definitely can recommend the Amplified Creme Lipsticks based on my experiences with Vegas Volt. Last summer I wore Coral Queen from Rimmel pretty much through whole summer, I think Vegas Volt is going to be The lipcolor for me this summer.

Review: GOSH Amazing Length'n Build Waterproof Mascara!

Another waterproof mascara review for you! I have many favourite waterproof mascaras that have been proved to be great and work on my lashes well, but still I can't stop trying out mascaras that I haven't tried yet. This time I wanted to try a mascara from GOSH, it't their Amazing Length'n Build Waterproof Mascara. I got a nice discount so I had to pay only around 7€ for this mascara. So why not try it!

I like GOSH as a brand, I like that many of their products are scent-freem or at least they used to be. I actually owned quite many products from them before I started blogging, I had some of their eyeshadows, glosses, a primer and a foundation and I really liked everything I had.

I don't usually go for the lenghtening versions because my lashes are relatively long already but they need some volume and definition. What I expect from a waterproof mascara is that it needs to hold my lashes curled all day. If it gives me volume and separation, that is a plus! As you may know, my lashes are super straight and stiff, so I need to use waterproof mascara to hold them nice and curled all day.

It has a regural brush with soft bristles. The brush doesn't coat my lashes with one swipe, I have to work with it a little to cover my lashes completely. The brush is not that big, which I like, the big ones usually are more messy to use in my opinion.

I think that my lashes look ok here! I would have liked them to be more voluminous but then again this was not that type of mascara. What I would have wanted more was separation, now I think my lashes look a bit too clumped together. But not in a crazy spider lashes way though :)

What disappointed me was that I'm not really sure if it's truly a waterproof mascara. It definitely doesn't hold my curl all day, I can see some straightening happening almost right after application. It's also super easy to remove, so that's why I have some doubts. Usually waterproof mascaras can be a bit difficult to remove but not this one.

If you are looking for a mascara that is truly waterproof, then I cannot recommend this to you. If you are looking for an inexpensive, nicely lenghtening basic mascara, then I think it's worth trying, normally it retails around 10€ here in Finland, so not bad at all.

Review: Isadora Volume & Curl Mascara

 Another mascara review for you!

Isadora came out with a new mascara some time ago. I totally was sucked in somehow. I know, it's not waterproof! And I only use waterproof mascaras, so why buy it then? Well, the name says volume and curl, so I thought it somehow would hold my lashes curled. The packaging also says "super easy removal" so I thought this is one of those mascaras that come off with just warm water. I also remeber using the Sensai 38 mascara for years (Kanebo back then) when I was younger AND loving it, so I decided to go for it and cross my fingers it would work.

I really like the brush, it's the curvy type like The Falsies has. It makes the application super easy and fast! The brush does collect a little bit of excess product so you have to clean it against the tube...no-one likes clumps.

What comes to volume, this mascara does give a lot of volume to my lashes. I really like that the brush enables a nice application right to the base of my lashes. It's a bit more difficult to use on the lower lashes because the tip of the brush is just cut, if you know what I mean. Also, you can't really layer this mascara, otherwise it will start to look clumpy pretty soon.

Here's one layer of the Volume & Curl mascara. About the curvy part, this is where this mascara disappointed me. From the beginning it became clear to me that it's not going to hold my lashes curled for more than 3 minutes. It's not waterproof, so it's just not working for my stiff, staight lashes. My eyes look a bit tired if my lashes are not curled properly, I think.

The second disappointing thing was that during the day there's a lot of fall out with this mascara. This is not usually a problem with waterproof mascara, so that's why I was so sensitive to notice it and it soon started to bother me. Fall out with mascara is a definite no for me.

I did like that it really is easy to remove with just hot water. I also liked that it's a truly volumising mascara because that is hard to find in waterproof versions, they are usually totally different formula and the volumising aspect is hard to reach. I know many people have liked this mascara, it just didn't meet with my expectations. I need my lashes to stay curled and my mascara looking fresh and neat all day. I wish Isadora would make waterproof versions of their newer mascaras too, I really liked their Extra Volume Build-up Mascara a lot.

Isadora is quite expensive here in Finland, I think this Volume & Curl retails around 16€, which is a lot for a drugstore mascara. I will try to use this for some time because I don't have a backup mascara at the moment, I think I'll be going back to one of my Maybelline favourites.. :)
