Review: Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pink Gold! :)

Here's my quick review on the pretty Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pink Gold! I've really been loving and using the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Permanent Taupe a lot, I love it as a base for a taupe smokey eye looks. I got the Pink Gold mainly to be used as a base too, lighter, everyday looks in my mind.

Pink Gold is a lovely, almost metallic light pink color. It looks a bit cool in the pictures, but it's not so much in the swatch pictures. I don't own that many cream shadows but I must say this is great stuff. It goes on smoothly but dries a bit sticky so your eyeshadow will stick to it easily and it makes the colors pop and also last longer. I've been using it without any primer underneath and it seems to be working great as a primer. I did try it to wear just alone on my lids but my lids are super red on their own and it didn't look good, I would have needed to use a separate nude  primer or concelaer to conceal the redness first. So I've been only using it as a base under neutral eye makeup.

Very pretty..! I can imagine that this particular color would work lovely with the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette...I've been reading the reviews a lot but I know I wouldn't be using that palette enough so I cannot allow myself to buy it.

What comes to staying power, I have oily skin and sometimes oily lids too but I've noticed that these Color Tattoos don't grease on me. They go on smoothly, work great as a primer and don't cost much. The only thing that I'm worried about is that these may start drying pretty soon in their jar after you first open them and the jar is not the most hygienic type for an eye product.

If I compare Permanent Taupe and Pink Gold, I do like Permanent Taupe better over the Pink Gold because it's matte and has more pigmentation, this one has a slightly different consistency. I must say that I also like taupe as a color so much that it may have affected my opinion on Pink Gold ;)

I highly recommed these, I wish there was a wider color selection available here in Finland.

Review: L'Oréal True Match Concealer in Ivory!

I always must try something new, even though I know I have found the perfect product for me already. That is why I was sucked into buying the True Match Concealer from L'Oréal. I was going to get the FitMe Concealer from Maybelline, since it has been my favourite for a long time now, BUT I noticed that True Match line had a very nicely fair color! This one is in the shade Ivory and let me tell you fair gals, it really is light!

What a long name...! True Match Skin Tone Matching Correctin Concealer. That's a handful.

Does it work then? It feels a bit sheer when you first apply it but then when you start blending it, it starts to show more pigmentation and then when it dries it really gives a nice, full coverage. After drying it also feels light on the skin, so no cakey feeling here!

As you can see, Ivory is very light! It has a yellow base, but when I blend it, it blends in with my skin tone, but in order to match my skin perfectly this Ivory color should be just a little more on the neutral side. If I apply it on larger areas like under the eyes, it just looks wrong. Therefore I've been only using it mainly to cover up blemishes and for that it works great, if you have the time to work with it a bit.

This concealer has a lot of potential, I wish it would have been a better match though. Surely I did compare it with the FitMe concealer and I must say that I like FitMe more, it just has a better consistency. It's more pigmented, creamier and easier to blend. But I must say that I'm very pleased that L'Oréal keeps their color selection wide so us pale girls have options to choose from too.

What I don't like is the small amount of product you get with your money, here in Finland this concealer is quite expensive considering it's a drugstore product, so I would like to have a good amount of product with my money. But then again, a little drop of this goes a long way so it will last a long time.

Coastal Scents Brush Haul! :)

I couldn't resist getting a few brushes while I was picking out the eyeshadow pots from Coastal Scents. I wanted to show them in a different post, so here they are..

Coastal Scents Classic Shadow Small Natural

I already have one of these and I like it a lot as a detail eyeshadow brush but also as a contouring brush for my nose, so I got another one. Only $1,17!

Coastal Scents Classic Shadow Medium Natural

I have one of these already and I like it a lot so I ordered another one. Very soft, I use it for blending and for applying a nude shadow all over my lids.

Coastal Scents Classic Mini Multipurpose Synthetic

This one I got to be used as a detail concealer brush. I have mainly used brushes made out of natural hair and they are so hard to get clean from, syntheric ones are easier to clean in my opinion. I paid only $1,77 of this, so inexpensive.

Coastal Scents Bionic Flat Top Buffer

I have been using liquid foundation a lot lately, so I wanted to try this buffer brush to apply and buff my foundation. It feels super soft, not too tense so it won't soak up too much foundation and will be easier to clean. I really like how it feels. It was only $4,17, very nice..!

These were the brushes that I got this time, I had to be strong and stick with just four brushes since I have a pretty large brush collection already.. I've been happy with the quality of all of my Coastal Scents Brushes and I sure love the cheap prices :)

Coastal Scents Hot Pots Eyeshadow Haul + Swatches! :)

After getting rid of my old eyeshadow palettes I placed an order at Coastal Scents. Everything was 40% off so I did not pay that much for the Hot Pot eyeshadow pans, only $1,17 each! I also couldn't stay away from the brushes so I also got a few of them....
Coastal Scents delivered my order very quickly! I'm very pleased with their service and most of all, their prices. I decided to show the brushes in a separate post because this one is going to be picture heavy!

I got a total of eight shadow pots, and I actually got them the Z-palette in mind, I'm going to order it soon. They also sent me four small sample pots, so nice!

I somehow picked colors that have green tones, I really seem to be fond of the neutral green tones at the moment. I think it was the Comfort Zone palette from Wet'n'wild that has got me gravitated towards the lovely green colors.

Gypsy green -A lovely neutral golden green, satin finish
Dark Golden Olive - A lovely darker olive green with gold sheen

Coastal Scents Hot Pots in Green Steel (left) and Dark Olive Green

Green Steel on the right. I don't see green, I see taupe! A lovely cool taupe with a tiny hint of green. Perfect!
Ashen - A light brown taupe, on the warm side, satin finish
Ashen - does it look a bit green here next to the other green toned ones?

Gypsy Night - A dark brow with some shimmer

  Gypsy Night on the left
Coastal Scents Hot Pot Polished Ivory
Polished Ivory is warm yellow gold highlight color. To me this is not really ivory, but I think this goes nicely together with the green toned shadows!
Burnish Brunette - A matte dark brown, cool toned.
Incognito - a deep matte black, very pigmented!
Burnished Brunette on the left, Incognito on the right

I also got this free sample with four different colours. My favourite is Rainstorm, a deep metallic navy blue. Super pretty! Swatch below.

All of the shadows have a pretty good pigmentation, Incognito is amazingly pigmented. Can't wait to see how these perform with a primer, in these pictures the swatches are done without a primer. I really am pleased with these! Considering how inexpensive these are even with full price, I can't help but love them!

I really wanted to get a true cool toned taupe, but was unable to find one in their selection. They didn't have swatches on their website and after looking at some swatches on google, I really thought Ashen would be a cool toned light taupe. But instead it has warmer gold based sheen, not silvery or purple like I wish it would have been. Also Polished Ivory is a little bit too gold for my taste, I wish it would have been more on the cooler side and not so yellow. But I'm super lucky I picked out Green Steel, it's my favourite of all of them! Dark Golden Olive is also a very lovely color, can't wait to try it in a smokey eye.

Does anyone know which on of the Coastal Scents Hot Pots is a truly cool silvery taupe? If you do, please leave a comment :)

Small Winter Sales Haul!

Finally some daylight! I managed to take some pictures, so I have some new posts coming out soon.
Let's start with a haul! I did a little sales shopping online and in my local department store, got some necessities and also one item that I didn't really need but wanted anyway. All of the items were pretty inexpensive so I'm happy!

The first thing on my shopping list was a new powder. I've been loving the Nude Magique BB Powder A LOT, so I got a new one. This one was from feelunique.com, since it's much cheaper there than here in Finland.

I also needed a new mascara and there was a limited selection of waterproof ones to choose from so I decided to pick The Rocket from Maybelline. I didn't remember that I wasn't really fond of it the last time but I'll give it a second chance. Here's my review on it if you want to take a look.

I needed a new concealer and I noticed that L'oréal sells in their True Match line here in Finland a color that it's very fair, (I believe that it's called Ivory). I got a discount so I decided to go for it. A review coming up soon!

I completely lost my last Tweezerman slant tweezers some time ago and I had to get a new ones. I actually got these pink ones before Christmas, they were on sale at www.lookfantastic.com. The color selection was quite poor so I ended up getting the pink ones again. I then later found my old tweezers so these are still untouched. I think I'm going to get rid of the old ones soon.

Some of the Color Tattoo colors from Maybelline were on sale, so ended up getting a color called Pink Gold. I did not need it, but really wanted it since my Permanent Taupe has started to dry out and I have really liked that one. I will review this one later too! The color looks absolutely amazingly pretty in the jar.

I'm very pleased with my sales catch, I saved some money and also got the pretty Pink Gold to try out.

Cleaning the makeup drawer...and the pain of letting go :)

I have been avoiding this, but now since we are entering a new year, it really was time to clean out some of the old and questionable makeup items from my drawer. Now, this is quite normal for normal makeup consumers, you throw old stuff away and replace it with new stuff, no feelings hurt. But if you are a collector like me, you don't want to get rid of anything, at least not without taking a trip down the memory lane and share a few tears together first.

NYX I Dream of Jamaica (review here) has been one of my all time favourite eyeshadow palettes. It has it all, the perfect taupe, the perfect highlight color and the perfectly pigmented dark brown. I really don't want to let this one go but I have to face the truth, it has started to smell a bit funky and I don't want to use it anymore for the sake of my eyes. I have very sensitive eyes that turn red even with makeup that doesn't smell bad so I just don't want to risk it anymore. I'm in tears, I will miss that taupe. I'd like to get a replacement but it was sold out at Cherry Culture. Hope it returns soon.

NYX White Pearl. This is also at least three years old, so it's time to get rid of it. I haven't used it for a long time so it has to go. A lovely pearly white, great quality!

NYX Eyeshadow Trio in White/Gray/Black is also an old palette. I have mainly used the black, it's very pigmented, but now I have other blacks that I use more and this one is just old and neglected. I have also used the black with a wet brush so it feels a bit...icky.

NYX Eyeshadow Trio in Sahara/Suede/Chocolate has been loved, as you can see! It's also one of my oldest palettes so for sanitary reasons I don't feel like using it anymore. I have really liked the highlight color, but then again, I have others. Maybe not as soft and creamy as Sahara, but still, good riddance, my loved palette. Swatches of these two NYX palettes here.

Lastly, my Urban Decay De-slick Mattifying Powder needs to go. It's gone. It was an ok powder, you can read my review here. As crazy as it may sound, I have stored this empty powder case in my makeup drawer because it has such a pretty packaging. I must not tell anyone about this and throw it away right now.

You all know where this is leading....I NEED some new eye shadows! I really, really want a Z-palette and some new shadow pans to fill it with. I'm also thinking about depoting some of the colors from my Urban Decay Naked Basics palette, because one of the colors was smashed when I dropped the palette and it's now a big mess. Z-palette, come home to mama soon..!

Best Of The Best in 2013! :)

Everyone else seems to be posting these favourites of the year 2013, so why not take a closer look what the year 2013 had to offer in cosmetic-wise! I didn't haul that much new makeup items but still managed to find a few gems! But let's start with skin care.

Mangos! I've been loving the Mango series from The Body Shop. A lot! The Mango Whip Body Lotion is my favourite, but it now retails here in Finland for 16,50€, that is just crazy for such a small bottle! I had to stop buying it, I'm in tears. The Mango Body Mist that I got in the summer is now almost gone. I do have a new Body Butter, it's also lovely.

I'm so happy I went back to my loved Mádara skin care routine. One of the best part of my routine is this Deep Moisture Gel. It feels super light and absorbs quickly but it's still moisturizing enough. I believe that my routine has helped me with my acne and helps with my oily skin too. And it's certified natural cosmetics, I don't think I will be going back to regular products anymore.

I have to include one hair favourite too! I have long hair that is getting quite dry at the ends. This Bonacure Oil Miracle Light Finishing Treatment has really helped me, it absorbs quickly and you don't need a lot to give your hair nice shine and a healthier look. I use it on damp hair, and after I use my straightener I then add a little drop, it makes my ends softer and shinier looking. Great stuff :)

The Nude Magique BB Powder from L'Oreal was one of the most loved new makeup items in 2013. I just actually repurchased this yet again. It really is just so smooth and lovely. Read my full review here!

I'm also happy that I finally this year went back to Urban Decay De-slick In A Tube Mattifying Gel. I have tried so many primers hoping they would help me with my oily skin and keep my makeup from melting, but this is the only one that helps me. It doesn't take the problem away, but it helps a little, and that makes me happy. Read my original review here.

Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick in Coral Queen was my most used lip product in the year 2013. I have never been a fan of bright lips but last summer changed it all! I wore this coral lipstick through the summer, fall and early winter. It is such a lovely color and a lovely product. My review here.

A new mascara favourite was also found in the late 2013. I was surprised with the 2000 Calorie Waterproof Volume mascara from Max Factor. I will buy it again! See the full review here.

These were my new favourites from the year 2013. I wish I could have included a blush favourite, but I didn't buy any new blushes that would have reached the level of a favourite. I used a lot of my old blushes and now most of them are showing pan, so I really want to start filling up my blush collection again soon.

I wish you all the best, health and happiness for the year 2014!
