Review: Elf Studio Baked Bronzer in St. Lucia!

Another Elf review.. :) I've been loving my bronzers this past summer, that's why this Baked Bronzer ended up in my shopping cart. Here's my quick review on it.

I got two shades, this one is the lightest shade called St. Lucia. And it actually is light! I don't know how to describe the color any better than it's a light brown.. It's a bronzer that looks nice on fair skin.
I didn't care much for the Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky from Elf, I thought it was too powdery and lacked pigmentation. This one is not that pigmented either, but has a nicer consistency, which I like! It's actually quite easy to work with, blends out nicely. I don't need my bronzer to be to pigmented because I'm very fair skinned, I only need a hint of color on my cheecks and my forehead. Too much pigmentation makes it look unnatural. I don't actually contour with a bronzer, I use a matt blush for that but bronzer works as a sort of extra for me, I use it to give just a tiny hint of sun tan on my face.

As you can see, it has a warm tone, but it's not orangy at all. Actually a great color for my skin tone! It's not overly shimmery, but gives a nice glow to my skin. I'm very pleased with this bronzer, it's good in quality and it was inexpensive too, I've said it before, but you can't beat that!

What happened to NYX Taupe?

I use NYX Powder Blush in Taupe pretty much everyday, it's a stable in my makeup routine. It's the perfect color for contouring if you have lighter skin tone. It's the perfect brown with no orange tones. I know there are other fans out there :)

But now something is different! It used to have amazing pigmentation but now it seems to be gone.
In the swatch picture below I had to really layer the blush to get it to show color this much. It's very difficult to use on my face too. The texture has changed and it's no longer soft and easy to use, it's now harder and lacks of pigmentation. What is this, NYX?

Also, it has started to break me out, at least I think that's what's causing it. I have blemishes under my jaw line, and since that is where I contour, I can't help but to think the blush is doing it. I wash my brushes pretty often, so I don't think it's coming from that. Also some blemishes are on the cheeks too.

Now, has anyone else had these types of problems lately? Is my NYX Taupe just from a bad batch or have they really changed it? If they have, I need your help. Anyone know a dupe for NYX Taupe? I'm desperate.

Skin Care Favourites! September 2013 :)

I also had some skin care favourites that I wanted to say a few words about, so why not post a skin care favourites too :)

Mádara is my favourite natural skin care brand. I've tried a large amount of their products and now I'm trying their Time Miracle Night Cream.

I don't tend to break out from natural cosmetics, even if they are on the thicker side. This cream is not the thickest one out there, but definitely a rich cream. My skin looks nice and moisturized in the morning, so I like it a lot. It was quite expensive, over 30€, but I really wanted to invest in a good cream that would help me with some wrinkle issues I've been having lately, due to lack of moisture. I think it works nicely, so money well spent! And most importantly, no break outs.

The Body Shop Mango Body Butter and Body Mist, I love these so much. So much. This range from Body Shop smells so amazing! I do love mangos, in every form. I have used at least 5 bottles of the Whip Body Lotion, but I had to stop buying it since it's 15.70€ per bottle, a quite small bottle. That's ridiculous!
The Body Butter is very rich and I usually use it on my legs and as a hand cream at night. The mist is lovely but doesn't last that long, I'm planning on getting the EDT of this scent.

Since my creamy mango favourite is so expensive, I had to find another, cheaper, alternative. I liked the consistency of this Benecos Body Cream and loved the fact that it's sertified natural cosmetics AND inexpensive. I paid around 7€ of mine. I really like the packaging too, very pretty so I don't have to store it away, I can leave it on my bathroom counter. The cream itself is great stuff, smells nice and absorbs quickly. My skin feels moisturized and conditioned. Only thing that I don't like is that it comes in a relatively small tube.

No words needed here. It's a lip balm from Burt's Bees that smells like mangos. I love it. I wish it would be a little more moisturizing but then again it feels good on the lips and lasts a long time. This one is almost gone, I need to order a back up.

I actually have a skin care haul I need to show you.. More creams...  And what no-buy??

Current Favourites September 2013! :)

Haven't done a favourites post in a long long time! I once thought that I'd be posting these every month, boy was I thinking highly of my abilities to post on a regular basis... :) I would like to of course, but I just don't have the time unfortunately. Working 10 hour days is not easy!

Ok then, enough with the excuses, here's my current favourites that I've been reaching for the most lately.

The Falsies. In waterproof of course. You can read my review here.

NYX When Leopard Gets A Tan Bronzer (review here). This summer has been the summer of first times. I gave up heavy foundation AND started using bronzer. I've used this one with a very light hand and it does give me a light touch of summer on my face, not too pigmented or dark! Lovely, and as you can see, I've hit pan :)

Viva La Diva Aloha blusher. Amazing peachy color with a hint of pink, not too much though. Amazing pigmentation! These are sold in Kicks here in Finland, don't know if the brand is available outside Scandinavia.

MAC MSF Soft and Gentle. Well take a look at this! This baby has lasted a long time and still going strong. I almost got a new one already but then I thought that this will propably last me another six months, at least. And I also had to remind myself that I have a drawer full of other sparkly powders.....but this baby is gets all the love :)

MAC Blanc Type. A true rescue for a red eye girl like me. My lids are almost flesh red in their natural state, so I can't leave the house without primer and nude shadow. I just wish I had one of those "I just woke up like this in the morning" faces.

Too Faced Glamour To Go Dream Edition Palette. I've been loving the blush. And the taupe. Here's my most recent rant about the palette.

L'Oreal Nude Magique BB Powder. You can read my review here, I'm still loving this powder. Have repurchased it a few times already!

How about the lip stuff then? Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks in Coral Queen (right) and Pink Tulip have been on my lips multiple times. I'm already into fall and been wearing darker colors in clothing and on my nails, but on my lips these bright colors have just stayed, I just can't let go.

My favourite nail color for fall is definitely egg plant and plum colors. I've been wearing these polishes from Lumene non stop, some days when I feel like changing things up a bit (only a bit...), I've been wearing OPI's Vampsterdam. Loving these, specially the burgundy color called Farewells. Also I've noticed that I don't have "anything" in my nail polish collection and I "need" to get new colors for fall and winter...right??

This was fun, I need to do this more often!

Rediscovered Love: Too Faced Glamour To Go Dream Edition Palette!

I'm so sorry that I'm going to rave about a palette that was limited edition and came out a long time ago, but I just can't help it! Too Faced Glamour To Go Dream Edition palette is my most cherished makeup item I own, hands down. I've now started using it more regularly, I didn't want to use it for a long time just to keep it clean and nice to look at. Now that may sound crazy, but it's actually pretty usual if you happen to have a makeup addiction (and a hoarding problem). Let's take a closer look at the palette (my first post about it can be read here). I've really been loving the blush and the bronzer! And the taupe of course :)

So so pretty. Sigh. Of course I've kept the original card board package that it came in, and while I'm not using the palette actively, I store it in this.

Such a nice combination of colors!

Pretty much all of the colors are quality shadows (except for that pale pink on the first row, it's very chalky and hard to work with), but specially these two colors have been used the most. The taupe is a given, but I didn't expect to like the peachy color this much. It's actually a very complementing color for my skin tone, it has a coppery tone to it. And the texture is just creamy, I can't believe how easy it is to use. Satiny finish, and oh such a lovely pigmentation. Here's some swatches.

The blush! I got this palette at a time when I didn't really care for the peachy pink blushes. I was using mainly cool toned pinks back then and thought that it was the only way to go. I was so wrong. My love for peachy pinks has been blooming for over a year now and still going strong. There used to be a lipgloss but I had to dig it out, it started to smell a little funky. We don't like our glosses smelling funky, right?

The bronzer is great for a pale girl like me and this past (you can say past already, right?) summer I've been really using it for the first time and I love it. You can see a bit of it in action on my forehead in the picture below.

I think I want a new palette from Too Faced soon. Too bad I'm on a no-buy... ;)
