Happy Holidays :)

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it :)

Here's a picture of the view from my living room just few minutes ago. It's -30 (C) degrees outside and the sun is coming up. The sun comes up only for four hours and then it gets dark again, so the days are very short in this corner of the world, and yes, very cold too. I'm not leaving the house anytime soon.

Thank you my dear readers for reading my blog in the year 2012 and I wish all good things for all of you for the year 2013 :)

Kisses!

Review: Maybelline The Falsies Feather-Look Volum'Express Waterproof Mascara!

I have another mascara review for you! I really like doing these reviews because I love to test out new mascaras when ever I get the chance. I like to buy the more inexpensive drugstore brands because I find it a bit wastefull to spend over $30 for a high end mascara (you've heard this before..). But I really do think that drugstore mascaras can be as good or sometimes even better than the more expensive ones.

I've tried many Maybelline mascaras and so far I have liked many of them. I only use waterproof mascara and I think Maybelline has done a good job with their waterproof ones. Many brands don't even bring out a waterproof version of their mascaras and that's a shame.

On to the review! I really liked The Falsies mascara so I went and bought another one, or that's what I though I did. When I got home it turned out to be a different version of The Falsies, I accidentally picked out something called The Falsies Feather-Look. It didn't have the curved brush!

The brush is just a regular old mascara brush, nothing new here. Once I saw it, I thought it was not going to separate my lashes or give that much of volume. Nor give me the same look that The Falsies, the original version, did. I must say, this Feather-Look is totally different from the original The Falsies. I think I'm going to call it Feather-Look instead because this is nothing like The Falsies I reviewed before.

The first time I used Feather-Look, it was nothing special because it was too liquidy. Once it started to dry a little, it started working! Here's what it looks like at it's best, I really like the results eventhough I was skeptical. You just really have to layer it a lot but since it's called the Feather-Look, my lashes still look nice and feel soft after layering. Usually I don't layer mascara that much, but this time it's ok and doesn't look bad at all. I still would like to have more volume and definitely some more separation for my lashes but still, I think it looks nice.

And here's some pictures that are taken on a different day, when I don't layer it that much. Looks quite nice like this too! Doesn't reach the level of the original Falsies or Lumene's Blueberry Curl but nice enough for me. Maybe I will get the original Falsies next time but I'm not disappointed eather. Easy to remove and keeps my lashes curled all day, that's makes me like it even more. And boy, does my eye area look red without any primer and nude eye shadow...

All and all my love for Maybelline mascaras is not going to cool down, my love is still strong. I've repurchased One by One already since it was so great. Feather-Look was nice but I didn't fall in love with the brush. Nice results though!

Holiday Nails Part 4: Red Glitter by H&M! + Review :)

Wow, I didn't expect to find anything this pretty and nice at H & M! These new nail polish sets had Christmas written all over them so I caved and paid 3,95€ for two lovely bottles.

The red glitter polish called Super Glitter looks so pretty and intense that I was actually waiting for a disappointment. But it really is full of glitter and covers with two coats! Amazing!

Super Red is just the perfect red for The Holidays and I actually didn't have a color like this in my collection. I love this worn just on it's own but this time I wanted to use it with Super Glitter. It was really hard to capture all the shine in pictures but I hope you can get the idea.

And the quality is really great! Easy to apply, no streaks and two coats was enough with both of them. the bottle is not that big but still, it was only under 2€ for each. I'm in love!

They had silver and golden sets too, I might have to go get those :)

Holiday Nails Part 3: Classic Red with Gold Glitter :)

I wanted to do classic red nails that really scream Christmas! I used gold glitter on top to make the look even more festive and it turned out to look amazing :) Here's my quick post!

I used MNY's 353 and NYX Beige Glitter on top. Beige Glitter is a warmer gold glitter, it's not the yellow gold type. It looks lovely just on it's own, it has some bigger flakes and smaller glitter all together and I love it.

My Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Top Coat is amazing! I highly recommend it, inexpensive too, you can't beat that.

NOTD: Holiday nails part 2, deep plum with gold glitter :)

I love the Holiday Season, I love the snow and all the pretty lights people have decorated their houses and yards with. Here's my Holiday nails part 2 :)

MNY 552 is one of my favourite polishes in my collection. It's a dark deep plum color that looks almost black in some light but it's still plum. I can see some eggplant in this color too. I love it. This time I used some festive gold glitter over it and it looks lovely. One coat of each gave me such pretty nails! I used my Sally Hansen base coat and top coat and I'm loving them so far! This mani lasted a pretty long time.

Such a pretty combination! Maybe some red nails next... :)

Review: Viva La Diva blush Aloha!

 Finally! A new blush!

I saw this Viva la Diva blush when the summer collection came out and it has been on my mind ever since. I finally found one and now it's safely home after being lost and lonely such a long time.

Yes, it's peachy. I know, I told you peachy tone is wrong for me but it really is not. I've been using peachy blushes for the whole year now and cool pinks have started to look a bit boring to me. I don't know why.

Aloha is just gorgeous! I can't get enough. Maybe that is why I use this one (too) with a heavy hand. It's a light peachy color but has a ton of pigment! It's pale enough for my pale compexion and looks just amazing.

It reminds me a lot of Make Up Store's Must Have. Actually so much that it makes me think if Make Up Store is behind this Viva la Diva brand, since they both are Swedish brands. The only thing that is different is that Aloha has a quite vivid scent, it's strong enough to bother me when I use it. But not strong enough to make me not use it, Aloha is too pretty for that :)

Here's the (poor) swatch with flash, it's impossible to take decent pictures without flash now and I swatched lightly. Applies great, blends out easily. Just lovely, I love it! I believe these retail for around 9€, 9,90 or something. I bought mine at Kicks, it's the only retailer for now that carries this brand here in Finland.

Small collective haul + NOTD!

I've been on a budget lately but I needed a few things so I allowed my self to do a little shopping..

  • Technic Nail Varnish in Gun Metal
  • Sally Hansen Insta Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen Double Duty Strengthening Base & Top Coat
  • L'oréal Lumi Magique Highlighting Pen
  • Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
  • Viva La Diva Blush Aloha

These two I really needed... I've read some great reviews of Instra-Dri and decided to try it out. I've used Seche Vite for a long time but don't like how it shrinks the nail polish when it dries. Insta-Dri didn't have that problem and was inexpensive too so I'm loving it! Double Duty I purchased because I like that my base coat and top coat are the same brand and this one was quite cheap too.

A repurchase, I reviewd this earlier and it's really a great drugstore concealer. Pigmented and soft, just great. Mine is the lightest shade 15.

I liked MAC's Prep+Prime Highlighter Pen a lot, but I found it too expensive for the amount of product you get with the pen. I've tried a lot of different pens after that but this Lumi Magique one seemed to have a similar consistency with the MAC pen. I'll review it later, after I've used it enough to give a review. I have high hopes for it!

I needed (oh, well...) a deep shimmery grey color in my collection, and found this at my local super market. I don't know the brand, looks a bit cheap but actually it turned out to be quite nice. Really easy to apply and wears quite nicely too. Only around 3€ for this loveliness. Nice deal, I'll say.

A gorgeous charcoal color. I've been wanting a darker silver or shimmery dark grey color and now I have one. Looks even prettier if I apply some silver glitter on top...I will show you that later!

I've had my eyes on this Aloha blush for such a long time and now it's mine. A lovely peachy color, just amazing. A review is coming up soon :)

NOTD: Holiday nails part 1 :) MNY 265!

Christmas and the Holiday Season are just around the corner and I can't wait! I've been painting my nails red a lot lately! I've been wanting to get some of the China Glaze Holiday Joy collection polishes but haven't caved yet. Cranberry Splash has been on my mind so I wanted to paint my nails with something even close to that.

MNY 265 is a deep cranberry red with pretty multicolor shimmer. It's kind of sheer so I used it over Rimmel's Movie Star polish, which is a warmer shimmery red, just lovely on it's own too but I used it to get more cover. Only one layer of Movie Star and one layer of 265 and the result is super pretty. And I love these 60 Seconds polishes from Rimmel because they last a long time, I wore this mani about a week. Amazing stuff :)

Again, I'm sorry for the poor indoor pictures. I don't like to use flash but days are so dark here right now so I had to use flash. I have a new blush review for you, but I can't take pictures that are good enough.

I'll be posting more holiday nails during November and December:)

NOTD: Weird dark purple/taupe/brown, MNY 549 :)

You know how almost every beauty blogger just loves taupe. And so do I. I love taupe in every form, on my lids and on my nails. I love NYX Powder Blush in Taupe on my cheecks :) I saw this cheap MNY polish on sale, paid only 1€ for it. I'm fond of these MNY polishes because I find them to have pretty great quality for such a low price. I sure do love those two combined!

This 549 looked like dark browb in the bottle but then on my nails it looks purple. It has a purple tone but then again with flash it looks grey. All the pretty taupe tones right there in one bottle! I find it to look weird but then again, I like weird things. I like this polish! The quality is ok, a bit opaque on the first layer but it gets better when you apply more layers. I settled for two coats. Lasted a long time without chipping!

Sorry for the poor pictures, there's not much daylight here at this time of the year. It makes blogging a bit hard..

Review: Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream!

It's never too late to jump on the BB cream wagon. BB is all over the place, I don't think I need to tell you the story. This is the real stuff from Asia, it's the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++. It's my first BB cream ever and here's my review on it.

I use mineral foundation most of time and it's perfect for my oily skin, yet sometimes I like to see if the grass is greener on the the other side. Usually it's not. That would be the case this time too, sadly.

Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream is said to do all kinds of great things for your skin. I got mine to use as a foundation, I don't really care about the other aspects. I like that it has a high SPF, it helps my pale skin to stay pale and wrinkle-free in the future too. How are the abilities as a foundation then?
It's really easy to apply, let's start with that. I apply it with my fingers and it works. This BB cream is quite thick, so a little dab goes a long way. It covers really well! I can skip concealer if I want to, the coverage is really great! It feels a bit heavier than a regular foundation on my skin. I have super oily skin and I must say that this is too moisturising for my skin type. It starts to look messy about after an hour I've put it on, even if I powdered my face. Despite that I still use it some days, it's so easy to apply.

I have the lightest shade #13  which is truly fair, it's a great match for me. I don't really like the scent, it has a slight SPF scent to it too but mainly it smells something like an older lady would like. It doesn't linger on my face though, so I guess it's ok.

If i had normal or dry skin I think I would be madly in love with this cream. I suggest you try it. For me it was not what I expected so I wont't be giving up my mineral foundation just yet. I want to try next the Dr. Jart BB Cream because I hear it's great for oily skin but luckily I've had some trouble with my eBay registration so I can't get my hands on it right now. I'm saving a lot of money :)

Small Rimmel haul + NOTD :)

I sure do love a bargain! I found these lovely Rimmel 60 Seconds nail polishes on sale and hauled four bottles. For 2€ each I think it's a pretty nice deal. I got a purple, a shimmery red, a fuchia and a teal  polish, all so pretty..

From left: Pompous, Movie Star, Fast A Fuchia & Sky High

I got the shade called Pompous, which is a lovely darker purple with blue shimmer. So pretty! Looks so shiny and  just perfect for the season. Two coats was enough with my Seche Clear Base Coat and Rimmel's top coat. And boy these 60 Seconds polishes last a long time! I went almost a whole week with this one and in the end it didn't even look that bad. I'm very pleased :)

I also got a new blush! Since it was only 2€ it was easy to bring home with me. I haven't found any new exciting warm toned blushes lately so this one was really a great addition to my collection. I've been really loving coral and peachy toned blushes for the past year and this light peachy blush called Autumn Catwalk has turned out to be excellent! Nice pigmentation and easy to apply. The darker stripe can look a bit too orangy on me so I try to stay away from it but the first two stripes are just perfect. It looks quite pale in this photo but it's a really nice peachy pink color in reality.

I really don't know why I have nail polish in my hand in the swatch picture. I guess that's normal for a beauty blogger :)

All and all a very successfull haul, thanks for reading!
