June haul part 2!

Apparently my shopping in June continues. I went to check out if the summer sales had started and found some really nice things!

I found Isadora's whole range of make up 50 % off!

  • Surely I had to pick out my favourite Inliner Kajal in Blonde
  • Extra Volume Build-up Mascara in waterproof. I have never tried it so I'm looking forward trying it out. You can't have enough mascara back ups!
  • Make Up Store Blush in Shimmer Dynasti. This one was also 50 % off and I could not be happier! Shimmer Dynasti has been on my wish list for a long time and no I got it and paid almost nothing! Shimmer Dynasti is a shimmery version of my all time favourite blush from Make Up Store, the Matt Glory.
  • Lumene Natural Code Mini Nail Polish in Go Glittery was also on sale so I wanted to take it home with me.
It seems that June is going to be a very successful shopping month, I have a few packages on their way in the mail too...

My first nail post!

This is my first post about nails!

I don't do my nails that often, but yesterday I bought a new glitter polish and wanted to try it out. This was the outcome, pink glitter nails. I think they are just pretty!

I used Sugar High from China Glaze and on top Lumene Natural Code Mini Nail Polish in Go Glittery. Sugar High is my all time favourite of pink polishes.

Go Glittery has blue, silver and golden shimmers in almost clear baby pink polish. Very pretty!

As a base coat I used the best base coat of them all, OPI Base Coat and on top I used Mavala's Minute Quick-Finish.

Thanks for looking!

Review: Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink!

When these Baked Blushes from Milani came out some time ago, I tried to get my hands on them but they were sold out everywhere! We don't have Milani here in Finland.. So I waited my time when Cherry Culture stocked up and now I got my Dolce Pink!

The packaging looks quite nice to me. The golden color theme gives an implication of this product actually being more expensive than it really is. Milani Baked Blush retailed only about $6!
The package feels a bit cheap though. But Milani is definitely a low end brand and I'm not interested about the packaging but only the product inside!

And let me tell you, the product most certainly feels high end and expensive! And just look how pretty!

The color is a warm pink with a peachy tone. It's definitely more pink than peachy. I usually don't reach out for the warm pinks but this one seemed perfect for the summer!

The consistency is soft and it's easy to apply. Dolce Pink is definitely shimmery but it's not too much. The shimmers seem to be finely milled and are not that visible on the skin. Dolce Pink gives me just a lovely glow and healthier look. The finish is sheer and boy, I'm in love.

Milani Baked Blushes come with a mirror and a brush. I like the mirror but the brush is totally useless. This is the case with almost every blush brush that comes with a blush, no matter what the brand is. They are too small for a decent application.

The pigmentation is not as good as I hoped it would be, but the sheer natural finish is quite pretty on my cheeks. Maybe blush doesn't have to be overdone every time...? Don't worry, I'm not changing my ways of applying blush. Less is more is NOT one of my principles.

I liked Milani's Baked Blush in Dolce Pink so much that I placed another order already... I picked out two more colors and hopefully they are more on the cool side, that is after all what I like the most.

Somedays it's all about brows!

I have a serious long-time love-hate relationship with my brows. Yes, I have been blessed with full black brows and I know many girls would trade places with me. But somedays I just can't handle my brows and other days I'm very thankful for having such brows.

I personally think that you cannot neglect your brows. If you only have time to do one thing, I suggest you do your brows. Brows give you definition and create a frame for your face. You look more put together if your brows are done and somedays you don't need anything more!

My brow situation at the moment is that right now I want my brows shaped and trimmed nicely. I have full brows and maintaining the current shape means a lot of plugging. (You can see my brows fuller in my profile picture on the side bar). I assume I will go back to much fuller brows in no time when I get too lazy to maintain this shape. I wish we had "brow bars" here in Finland too. You could just step in to a salon and 5 minutes later you have nicely waxed and shaped brows. But no! You have to make an appointment and it's not that cheap to trim your brows in a salon.

Ok, this post is not about my problems making an appointment in a beauty salon. I wanted to show you how I do my brows!

The products I use for my brows:

  • Tweezerman Slant Tweezer (of course in pink)
  • MAC Brow Set Gel in Clear
  • A spoolie brush from Duroy
  • A small slanted brush from Duroy
  • Grimas eye shadow in shade 101 (black)

1. Brows in their natural state (don't mind the massive red bags under my eyes)

2. I comb my brows down so it is easier to define the line

3. I define my brows by lining the shape with a black eye shadow. I use a small slanted brush. With a small brush you can do small strokes, it's easier that way. In this picture I have only lined from the below but I line the upper line and the arch too (I was too quick with the camera).

4. I fill in the middle with the same black eye shadow. You want the most color in the highest part of your brow, the arch that is.

5. I comb my brows upwards with a spoolie. This way the lines aren't too harsh and you get a softer look. The color also evens out.

6. I add some clear brow set gel and comb my brows up with the brush. I also apply some white pearly eye shadow under my brows to highlight the brow bone.

7. The finished look

I hope this was helpful for someone!

June Haul!

I haven't posted anything lately because I haven't had anything exciting to post about. No new make up, no nothing!

But now I have hauled some new goodies from Cherry Culture.

What did I get then...

  • Two NYX Mosaic Powders in Highlighter. These were the reason for my order and boy, have I missed this highlighter! It's my all time favourite and works perfectly on my pale complexion.
  • Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink. I wanted to get more colors but then ended up only getting Dolce Pink. Looks so pretty! Surely a review is coming up.
  • LA Colors Mineral Blush in Dewy was on my wish list for a long time and now I got it. A very light peachy pink, just lovely for the summer!
  • NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Black. I fill in my brows with black eyeshadow but now I wanted to try something else. Low price and hopefully good quality!
  • NYX Lip Liner in Fuchia. Just lovely bright fuchia color, I have to swatch it for you later.
  • NYX blotting paper for my oily face. I can tell the summer is really here...
That's it for now. I hope I have time to write reviews at least about the blushes. Looking forward trying them out!
