Review: NARS Albatross!

Apparently, I'm also always in search of the perfect highlighter. I use and abuse highlighters like no-one and after my two favourites, NYX Mosaic Powder in Highlight and Mschic Highlighting powder, run out, I've been on the hunt again!

NARS Albatross, THE highlighter for a lot of beauty junkies, had been on my wish list for some time. I just couldn't get my hands on it but then one day in Paris, in a Sephora...

I paid the ridiculous 29€ from this candy cane! Was it worth it? I think you know the answer.

Oh well...
The package has the same problem I mentioned when a review my NARS Angelika blush, it gets dirty pretty soon if you don't keep it away from your other makeup products. It's a shame, an expensive product turning into a shabby looking thing so fast.

4,8 grams of product seems like a lot for a blush or a highlighter but for me, the highlighter abuser, it seems quite a little. I'm afraid I will hit pan pretty quickly and then I end up not using it too often.

But just look! A pretty white thing...how can I resist and not use something like this? The texture is everything I expected it to be: smooth, creamy, velvety...just plain lovely I'll say.

Albatross can look a little boring and too white in the pan but it has an amazing golden pearly finish! There are no visible shimmers, it's is very finely milled. The outcome is just a warm golden hue, my face is lightened up and glowy. You don't need much, just one sweep is enough! I use this all over my face (actually this time with a light hand) and it's not too much during the daytime.

Albatross has become absolutely one of my favourites. It's definitely worth the 29€. Plain glow and loveliness! I just have to slow down my highlighter consumption or Albatross will take all my money... Because I see some definite repurchases coming in the future!

I would recommend this luxury item for every girl who has not found their HG highligher yet. This is it! You get that lovely glow that every girl dreams of.

Current favourites!

I seem to have some serious troubles keeping up with my monthly favourites. I have failed, in other words.

But I have been loving a lot of stuff lately, new and old, and I wanted to show them to you in form of my current favourites!

  • Too Faced Absolutely Invisible Candlelight
  • Lily Lolo mineral foundation in Porcelain
  • We Care Icon Party Wear Highlighter. Found a decent replacement for my NYX Mosaic Powder in Highlighter. The name says "party wear" but I wear it daily with a heavy hand, of course.
  • MAC MSF Natural in Light Medium
  • NARS Angelika. If you read my review about it, you might not be surprised that I've been loving it a lot lately.
  • Fyrinnae Glow blush in Mesmerize. It is just amazing. I surely did order a large size of this blush!
  • Lumene Blueberry Curl mascara
  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I think I haven't review it yet. But I like it better over the UDPP!
  • Shu Uemura lash curler. It's at least as good as my Tweezerman lash curler, but I've been using this one a lot more lately. Can't decide which one I like better!

I wonder if I manage to post my next monthly favourites...before July. I'm so sorry.

Review: Lumene Blueberry Curl waterproof mascara

I wanted to review a mascara that has been a favourite of mine for a long time. Sometimes I differ from my path and try other mascaras but I always come back to this one. It's Lumene's Blueberry Curl Mascara in waterproof. My choise of color is Rich Black (as always).

It's one of the rubbery wand mascaras so with that I expect to get a good definition and surely some volume. This is what Lumene says about the mascara: "Flexible plastic brush curls lashes for perfection & builds clump-free volume at first stroke". Sounds almost too good to be true..

The packaging is just cute! It looks very fancy with the blue color and shiny surface. It looks way more expensive that it really is! Lumene mascaras retail normally about 15€, I paid 9,90€ for mine and I think it's a reasonable price. I don't like paying too much money for a high end mascara when you can get the same quality with a dugstrore brand but just much cheaper.

The wand is a good size wand that has a flat side and a larger side creating an edge to the wand. I haven't had any troubles with this wand, I think it works perfectly for me. I think we all have our own way of applying mascara, this wand works very nicely with my style! With the edge I can apply a great amount of product to the base of my lashes and then have the separating effect at the same time. The wand picks up just the right amount of product! I like the design very much indeed.

And the results are amazing! Separated, clump-free lashes! And there's also definitely some visible volume. And this really keeps my curl all day long. My lashes look exactly the same in the evening that they look in the morning right after doing my makeup. I love it.

So my lashes are separated and there's volume but they are not spider legs or too much. Just perfect for my taste, subtle but still something extra.

The results are pretty similar to the results I got with Maybelline's Define-A-Lash Volume. Lumene gives me maybe just a bit more volume. For comparison, here's my review of the Define-A-Lash. You can really see a difference between that and Blueberry Curl!

One problem is the removal. It does not come off easily, I must say. Sometimes I lose some individual lashes in the process. But I guess you can't have it all! I just love the results too much to let a little flaw like that bother me. By far this is the best mascara for me that I've ever tested. I will go back to this many times in the future!

Review: NARS Angelika!

Yet another raving review coming up this time!

I purchased my NARS blush in Angelika not that long ago when I visited a Sephora in Paris. I almost ended up not buying it but then the crazy fog lifted and I walked this new love of mine to the check out counter. And I'm so glad I did! Because this could be one of the best blushes I've ever tried.

The packaging design is classy and I like it, but the one minus is that the rubbery package gets dirty pretty quickly. You'd have to store it in it's original cardboard package to avoid this.

You get 4,8 grams of product which is quite nice amount. This will last a long time because the product inside is very truly immensely pigmented. You also get a good sized mirror within the package, I like that.

But the real treasure can be found inside! Look at that color! And the shimmers! I could just look at it for...days. The color is a bright pink with a gentle purple tone that makes it a cool pink without beeing too purple or not wearable for warmer skin tones. This is a wearable color for most skin tones in my opinion. But absolutely a perfect match for the pale girls!

You have to apply this with a light hand, one layer of the color is most definitely enough! The pigmentation is just amazing. I've had no problems with blending. Just one sweep gives you a nice flush of pink color and a pale girl like me looks again all healthy and alive. I just love this blush and I also like to overdo it, no doubt about that. I seem to love a lot of things in this blog. But love needs to be spread, right?

The shimmers are silvery and in the pan it seems like it could be too much, too glittery. But once when you sweep this over your cheeks the shimmers are not that visible and during the day they seem to disappear somehow anyway. I like the shimmers and I would like them to stay but it turns out that the shimmers are quite large so they don't want to stay on my cheeks. But the color stays all day long!

So pretty...

This is pretty close to my all time favourite blush from Make Up Store, the Matt Glory.

NARS is a high end brand so the prices also are in the higher end. I paid 29€ for this baby and I personally think it was worth of every penny.

If you like a girly, pretty, cool, cotton candy pink on your cheeks, you will love this. This is the perfect pink for a girl to have in her makeup bag (or closet in my case).

Review: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

Wow have I been MIA again. I'm so sorry about that! But I've got a new job and it has kept me busy but now I'm starting to get hold of it and everything else on the side and we can get down with this beauty stuff! I have loads of reviews I want to write.

Today I want to tell you about my new love, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. This is hands down the best finishing powder I've ever owned. Seriously.

I had heard so many good things about this finishing powder so I decided to pay the ridiculous amount of money to get my hands on this baby. I had my doubts before the first time I applied MSF Natural over my mineral foundation. Boy, were my expectations exceeded! So glad that I spend all that money.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural is in the same size pan that the MSF highlighers/blushes. So it's a good size. The color I decided to go for is NOT the lightest one there is. I chose, with the help of a professional makeup artist, the second lightest Light Medium. The makeup artist at the counter was sure that it's not too dark for me and it would only give me a warm hue for my complexion. She was right. It does just that. I'm overwhelmed! Me, the pale girl does not have to go for the lightest. The color is not too dark, but you can see a color difference if you apply the powder heavily. Maybe next I'll try the lightest one, just to make sure..

The texture is very smooth, not cakey or too dry. It feels so creamy soft! To me it seems that this powder can even out my complexion and keep my foundation nice and fresh for a longer time.

MSF Natural gives a perfect finish. The finish is surely matte but at the same time it gives a sheer glow to your complexion. The glow is not visible to a bare eye but it's there, like it's coming from the inside. Oh how poetic.

MSF Natural does not cake up on your face and the finish is not too powdery. I'm not sure how much I can praise this powder before I start to sound like I was sponsored by MAC. The swatch picture is bad I know, but the color or the finish was hard to capture in a picture. You just have to try it yourself.

One of my concernes was that there's jojoba in the beginning of the INCI list and I was afraid this powder would brake me out but at least for now it hasn't. Maybe it won't! I just love it so much I would be devastated if it did. Fingers are crossed.

The price is definitely high (28€ in Finland), I wouldn't pay any higher price than this for a powder. But this time I'm so glad that I did and if my new love doesn't brake me out then this will last till the end of time!

Fyrinnae Glow Blushes!

Finally I had the time to take pictures of my Fyrinnae order! I ordered a few Glow Blush samples with one Bronzer and one Highlighter sample. These colors are so amazing! They are glowy like the name says, not glittery at all. The shimmers are finely milled and very subtle...all of these blushes are just gorgeous.

Upper row from left: Highlighter Confidence, Glow Blushes Charm, Enchant & Captivate
Bottom row from left: Bronzer Light Matte, Glow Blushes Mesmerize, Enrapture & Bewitching

From left: Fyrinnae Highlighter Confidence & Glow Blushes Charm, Enchant and Captivate

Confidence: An amazing highlighter with a pink tone, I love it! Not glittery at all, the shimmers are finely milled and hardly visible.

Charm: A bright pale pink, but not this bright after applying on the skin. The color is on the cool side but turns out to be much warmer on my skin that I would have thought. A very pretty color indeed, don't be afraid of what it looks like in the jar! It's definitely not neon.

Enchant: A bright coral, almost orangy on the skin. Very bright, be careful with this one! Pretty applied with a light hand.

Captivate: This looks like a warm peachy/rosey color to me. A difficult combination for my skin tone.

From left: Fyrinnae Bronzer Matte Light, Glow Blushes Mesmerize, Enrapture & Bewitching

Matte Light: Not entirely matte brown bronzer, there are teeny tiny shimmers that are hardly visible. An amazing brown color for contouring a pale complexion, not orangy at all! Very pigmented, a little amount goes a long way.

Mesmerize:My favourite! A bright pink color with a purple tone. This matches my skin tone perfectly, one of my all time favourites! I will definitely purchase the big jar of this. Could be the winner of all the blushes I've owned so far, will see..I love this so much, I tell you.

Enrapture: A rosey pink color, this one is very pretty! It looks very neutral to me, could be great for a large range of skin tones. Pretty, did I say already?

Bewitching: A pretty plum shade on the jar but on my skin unfortunately turns out muddy and a bit dirty looking, Has a strong brown-pink tone on the skin. But looks amazing on the jar, don't you think? Sadly, not my colour.

Very successfull order from Fyrinnae, I'm in love. I will definitely place another order pretty soon.

Thanks for looking!

Sephora & MAC haul!

Oh Paris...you took my money!

So I went to Paris. It was just plain lovely. The Sephora on the other hand was just plain superbe! It blew my mind. The one on Avenue des Champs-Elysées was huge!

And on my way to the airport I stopped by at a MAC counter in Helsinki and picked up a couple of products that I needed...nice job spending money before even actually getting on the plane.

I was around the Too Faced counter multiple times swatching the Romantic Eye palette but ended up choosing NARS Angelika instead. I just couldn't get them both. The palette was so beautiful when I swatched it. I may have to get it later...
So I got the Albatross and a blush in shade Angelika. I can't stop looking at them, I'm in love.

Then I got MAC's MSF Natural in shade Light Medium. The makeup artist at the counter insisted that I don't get the lightest shade (usually I have to go with the lightest) and I must say she was right and I'm pleased. A bit darker color actually brings some warm hues to my complexion. And now I can't use it heavily, then you could tell the color difference. I also picked the Brow Set Gel in shade clear, I was running out my current one.

As a bonus for being such a good girl lately I picked up this gorgeous lipgloss from Sephora's own collection. Lovely purple with blue and pink shimmer. Plain lovely! It's called Dazzling violet-reflex.

That's all, I think this was a very nice haul, I'm pleased with everything and I didn't go crazy and splurge all my money. I AM a good girl!
