Review: MAC Matte2 Eye Shadow in Copperplate!

I've been on a search for the perfect taupe that is not too dark for me, since I am the pale girl. I've used MAC's Blanc Type a lot and really like the consistency of these Matte2 eye shadows. So Copperplate had to come home with me :) Here's my quick review.

I'm sorry about the poor pictures, still not that much of daylight in here... I wanted to take pictures of some of the looks I made with Copperplate but no, my camera needs more light.

According to MAC Copperplate is a muted mid-toned grey. To me it looks more brown than grey, I find it to be the perfect taupe that is not too warm and not too brown but still brown. Well you know what I mean :)

The consistency is just like in Blanc Type, creamy and super soft. It's pretty pigmented too! It's easy to use and blends out nicely. Since I got it I've been using it every time I do my makeup. I really love it, the softness and the true matt finish.

I think it looks great against my skin. It's a very vesatile color for me, I've used it as my crease color but also all over my lid just alone or as a base for a darker smokey eye. I really love it, did I mention that already? It's the perfect matte taupe for my fair skin. I think I've used the word perfect too many times here..?

Worth every penny!

Review: NYX Highlight & Contour Powder!

I was really excited when I saw this convenient Highlight&Contour Powder from NYX. I always contour my face and as you may know, have a heavy hand with any kind of shimmery powder. Without even seeing any swatches I ordered the powder from Cherry Culture.

The Highlight&Contour Powder has a dark brown powder and a pearly white powder baked together in a pan. I love the idea, I think it's great for travelling.

It's available only in this one shade, I think...?

The packaging looks nice, it's white and sleek with black writing and ornaments. I like it! It does feel a bit cheap but then again, NYX is all about the quality of the product inside, so I don't really care about the packaging. I do love that it has a mirror!

The dark brown side is quite pigmented! For fair complexions it can be a bit too dark, you have to use it with a light hand and blend out carefully. For medium skin tones it would be perfect, I'd say. It's not completely matte, it has a light sheen and I like it, the color doesn't show up that harsh on my super fair skin. The brown is really brown, on my skin it does not show up orange. I like the brown a lot!

The highlighting side is, on the other hand, a total disappointment for me. I was hoping it to be the same NYX quality that I'm used to but no. It's a bit chalky, not soft at all and doesn't show up on my skin. It's too hard to work with and that is why I reach for something else instead of using it. I'm so sad, I really wanted it to work! I wish they would have added at least some shimmers. It has a pearly finish, if it was ment to be subtle then that's what it really is.

Here's the swatches. The brown looks great and is swatched quite lightly but the highlighter is swatched pretty heavily.

All and all, I'm disappointed. NYX products usually are pretty nice quality but this time the highlighter lacks of pigmentation. I will be using the contour powder for sure though :)

Review: Too Faced Absolutely Flawless Flexible Coverage Concealer!

Too Faced is one of my favourite brands. Their cute and always gorgeous packaging is very appealing to me and to a lot of other beauty junkies too. I myself am a true sucker for cute and lovely packaging and that alone gives me, from time to time, a reason to purchase something from Too Faced.

I've had their Absolutely Flawless Flexible Coverage Concealer for a while now and I wanted to review it for you because it's probably one of the best liquid concealers I've ever tried when it comes to coverage.

Absolutely Flawless really gives you full coverage if you want to. This stuff is so pigmented and creamy that the tiniest drop goes a long way! It blends out nicely too if you use with a super light hand. I use it with a synthetic concealer brush to apply and then blend with my ring finger. It covers everything with just a little amount, my scars, darks spots, everything! The consistency is quite thick and creamy. It lasts all day long, really. I recommend powdering over it, it does not dry that easily.

My shade is Vanilla, it's the lightest shade and works fine with my pale complexion. It has a yellow, creamy tone, so it's great for covering redness.

Because of the quite heavy consistency and the fact that it doesn't dry that well once you've applied it, I've had some trouble using it under my eyes. I don't like to powder over my undereye concealer to avoid the cakey look but with Absolutely Flawless you really need to powder. The littlest amount really is enough for great coverage, so I recommend using it with a very light hand and then a very light layer of setting powder.

Because of it's amazing pigmentation and the fact that it can be a bit heavy, it can be hard to remove. I would recommend an oil based cleanser for it. I use double clensing, it does the job but then again I don't use concealer in larger areas.

All and all, I really think you get your moneys worth if you pay the 19€ for it. It covers pretty much everything :)

I hit pan...!!!

Only a true makeup junkie can understand where this is coming from. This has not happend in years! I hit pan!!! And yes, it's one of my blushes! :)

NYX Mosaic Powder in Paradise is just a lovely, pigmented bight blush that has a combination of different pinks. It's a bit powdery so that might be the reason I hit pan so soon. That plus the fact that I've been using mainly the other side, the side that has that gorgeous bubble gum pink on it. Well, still counts, I hit pan :)

Some time ago I also went through yet another NYX Mosaic Powder in Highlighter. My love for it never seems to end! My heavy hand with highlighters may have something to do with it too...

Red haul! :) Rimmel by Kate lipstick swatches!

What kind of makeup hoarder doesn't have a red lipstick? I'm not a fan of bold lips on me but I've always admired girls who can rock the red lip. Yesterday I wanted to be that girl and got myself a pure red lipstick and a matching liner. I threw a red polish on top and headed to check out.

Rimmel had come out with a line of Long Lasting Lipsticks by Kate Moss. All the colors were lovely but I wanted the red one. It's more on the cool side so I thought it would be perfect for me since cool tones work better with my compexion. So I picked out...

  • Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in 01
  • Rimmel 1000 Kisses Stay On Lip Liner Pencil in 021 Red Dynamite
  • MNY My Varnish nail polish in 353

To me it seems that the liner matches the lipstick just about right! This lipstick seems and feels like a quality peace of makeup and it's super pigmented. It retailed for 7,90€ which is not bad for a nicely pigmented lipstick. The packaging looks cute too, sleek black tube with Kate Moss' signature on it. Lovely!

I'll take my red lips on a test drive this weekend. Let's see how it goes :)

NOTD: NYX Delectable!

Here's a quick NOTD with my new baby, NYX Advanced Salon Formula Nail Polish in Delectable. It's a gorgeous fuchsia with fine golden shimmer. The shade changes in different lighting, it's just too lovely. Like the name says, delectable :) Two coats was enough.
