Review: Benefit Dallas

Hi there!

I hope you all had a good Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate! I sure did and still do, I'm posting this in my pyjamas...

I wanted to review yet another Boxed Powder from Benefit, this time it's Dallas!

Dallas is a shade nothing like all the other blushes I own. It's a brown shade with a rosey tone which makes it work as blush but also a bronzer. This is a unique coppery color and I'm glad I bought it. Like all the other Benefit blushes Dallas too comes with the narrow brush that I don't find that usefull. Pretty box though! Comes with 12g of product, that's very generous!

Dallas doesn't turn muddy or orangy at least on my pale complexion. I hate when that happens and try to stay away from the orangy bronzers.

Dallas is not that shimmery but it gives a nice glow though. Consistency is very soft, almost creamy like. I like about that in these Benefit beauty powders. Dallas is a very pigmented blush but blends nicely. I'm very fond of this! I tend to reach this for my contouring color when I'm planning on using a rosey blush that day, this goes amazingly well together with a rosey blush.

This blush/bronzer works great for every skin tone, I think. For the palest Dallas works nicely as a contouring color and for darker skin tones it can work as a blush. Dallas retails for $28 so it can be a bit pricey but you get a lot of product that can be used in many different ways and is an unique color. I like!

Review: MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle

These highlighters just keep coming!

MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish or just MSF in Soft and Gentle has become one of my favourites. This is my first MSF and the only one at the moment. My city doesn't have a MAC counter so MAC is a bit hard to get for me.

I chose Soft and Gentle because I read some reviews telling it's not as glittery or too shimmery as the other MSFs. These pictures were taken before I started using Soft and Gentle.

Just look how pretty! Soft and Gentle is a baked highlighting powder and the color is a light gold with lighter vains in it.

And it's definitely not too shimmery! The shimmers are there but they are very finely milled and hardly visible. When the light hits my face directly maybe then you could see some subtle shimmering. I chose this one over the other MSFs because of the light and neutral color, Soft and Gentle doesn't give any bronzing color to your face but it gives just a nice glowy warm hue. Just lovely!

I have oily skin and I don't really need that extra glow all over my face but then again I tend to ignore that and use this with a heavy hand. Surprised?

The consistency is very soft, almost creamy like. I apply Soft and Gentle with a large face brush or a stippling duo fiber brush for a lighter application (never, that is). A fan brush would be great for those who like to use highlighters with a light hand.

Soft and Gentle gives a gentle warm finish to your look and is very wearable even during the day time. No wonder I've heard people say that MSF is their secret weapon when it comes to enhansing their natural beauty. That's exactly what it does!

MSFs retail for $28 in the U.S. and in Finland around 28€, I can't remember the exact price. It's from MAC's permanent collection. Soft and Gentle is a luxury item in my makeup collection and it makes me feel really pretty and pampered when I use it. Worth every penny, I'll say.

Natural skin care Haul!

Shopping ban ended yesterday successfully!

I hauled some natural skin care products that I had on my wish list.

I got this Mádara skin care set for oily to combination skin from our local eco shop Ekolo. I saved a quite a lot of money when I purchased the whole set instead of the individual products. I'll definitely write a reviw about these products! I can't wait to see how they work for my skin. This set is ecosertified and partly organic.

The set has Purifying Foaming Cleanser, Deep Clarifying Facial Toner and Deep Moisture Gel. They are all suitable for oily to combination skin but the cleanser works for all skin types! It's a best seller from this brand. I'm so excited about this brand!

My current conditioner from Tigi is running out and I decided to take the natural road with hair too. I got Mádara's Nourish & Repair Conditioner for damaged hair. I will get the shampoo too after I run out my current one.

I got the Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Cream from The Body Shop. A review coming about this organic eye cream later!

Then I plurged on some shower gels and a lotion. These products are all natural! Anne Lind's Milk & Honey Shower Gel and Body Lotion smell amazing! I'm not a fan of strong scents but these ones have a subtle fragrance of milk and honey. Just lovely! I bought them as Christmas presents but I'm planning on keeping them for myself, haha!

A chocolate shower gel! Sounds so yummy! A brand called Faith In Nature's Shower Gel & Bath Foam. A present for a friend, I'm tempted keeping this one too...

One makeup purchase too, my all time favourite mascara is Lumene's Blueberry Curl Mascara in waterproof. Keeps my curl all day and defines my lashes one by one. Pure love!

Now I will try and write that mineral post. I promised to do that too long ago, for crying out loud.

Review: MAC Sheertone Blush in Coygirl

The search is still on for the perfect blush! This time I wanted to review MAC's Sheertone Blush in Coygirl. It was one of my first MAC products and it took some time before we became as good friends as we are now. I'm in love with this blush, oh yes! This is part of MAC's permanent collection.

It took me a while to understand that cool pinks and purples suit me way better than warm pinks. With Coygirl I also purchased Pink Swoon which was not good for me so I had to let her go...always a sad day when one of my babies leaves the nest.

It's a Sheertone, so it's sheer but at the same time pigmented! It's very buildable and applies smoothly giving a matt finish, so perfect for beginners. You can't really go wrong with this. Of course I like to abuse this one too...

Sorry about the poor quality of the swatch, oh, what a shame. I tried to capture the real color of this blush. With flash that's not possible and the daylight is a rare sight right now in Finland.

Here's another swatch pic, hopefully a better one!

Coygirl looks very purple in the pan but once swatched or applied it looks cool pink. It has a berry tone, I would say. Very nice and unique color! This is one of my favourites for sure. So I would recommend this to you if you are in need for a cool sheer blush. Don't be afraid of what the color looks like in the pan, you really need to swatch it!

But I have one problem when it comes to the search of the perfect blush. I haven't bought a blush for a long time and I just don't even know where to start looking! Any suggestions for brands? Ideas are more than welcome!

November Favourites!

Hi there!

I know I skipped October's favourites but that's only because I pretty much liked the same stuff that I did in September. But this month I have been into other goodies too!

My shopping ban has been going on very well, I have only relapsed once or twise. Only makeup I bought was just one lipliner! Then I also had to place an order in Cherry Culture because my favourite contouring blush turned into pieces after I dropped it on the floor...Other than that I've been a really good girl with my shopping ban!

OPI Natural Nail Base Coat is one of the best there is, I think.

This Urban Decay De-Slick Maffifying...stuff is just great. Read the review here.

Oooh this is just love (again...). This is my first and only MAC MSF and I just love it. It's the Soft and Gentle. Not too glittery or shimmery, just nice golden glow to give a warm tone for my face. I need to buy a backup and soon!

I've been using day after day this NYX Palette. It has Sahara, Suede and Chocolate in it. Actually I've been using Chocolate for contouring after my original contouring blush broke into pieces. Perfec contouring color for the pale faces! The picture is taken before I started using this.

That's about it, thanks for reading!

NYX haul!

First things first, I'm sorry about the quality of the following pictures. We don't get much daylight in this corner of the world right now so it is impossible to take photos with natural light.

This is what I ordered last month from Cherry Culture. I got 20% of everyhting, nice deal.

I got two Powder Blushes in Taupe, these were the reason I placed my order in the first place anyway. Taupe is my favourite contouring blush, highly pigmented and just awsome. Lovelovelove.

Then I got a Single Eyeshadow in Highlight, it turned out to be a lot more yellow than I expected. Let's see how it works on my skin.

I also picked out Round Gloss in Pinky Natural. This gloss is one of my favourites from NYX, just the perfect color for my lips. I've used 2 or 3 of these already.

Then a random pick, NYX Lipliner Pencil in Sand Pink. It turned out to look great on my lips! It has a purple tone and it's really wearable. Pics coming soon in a post about favourite lip combos!

And finally my other random pick, Mega Shine Lip Gloss in La-La. I wanted something fun and that's what La-La really is. Bright pink indeed! Looking forward wearing it with evening looks. Bright pink is what makes an evening look seem plain nice and overdone, just how I like it...

I really need to start focusing on my blog again, I've been busy! I've been working that mineral post fow ages now...

Review: Benefit Thrrrob

It's been a while since I've reviewed a blush!

I've had Thrrrob from Benefit for some time now and I really don't know if I like this or not!

The packaging is just plain lovely! So pretty and kinda sexy with the ribbons and the coloring. Like all the boxed powders from Benefit this one also comes with a brush. I don't find it to be usefull at all. Maybe some people use it with success but I really don't like it. Benefit poxed powders are expensive but you get a good amount of product!

Thrrrob is a sheer light pink blush with white or silver shimmers. It is so sheer it doesn't really show up on my face but I like the glow it gives me. And remember, I'm the pale girl. You have to apply this quite amount to give you some color. At least I feel this way. Ok, I wear my blushes heavily and overdone but Benefit Thrrrob doesn't allow me to do that with one or two brush strokes. That doesn't mean this is a bad blush...! The color is light enough to wear as an all over face powder or as a highlighter and it works very well used like that.

The texture is quite silky and it allows smooth application.

Because of the light color and the lack of pigmentation I usually reach for other blushes in my collection. I give Thrrrob a chance now and then but after that I feel like I need to add some color with another blush. I think this is just my problem, not so many people want to leave the house looking so...bright.

Here's the swatch applied heavily:

All and all I like the Benefit Thrrrob as a highlighter and because of its pretty packaging. As a blush it doesn't work the way I would like it to work. Benefit Thrrrob is a nice blush if you are looking for a sheer and subtle pink color. The name Thrrrob doesn't really suit very well here, the blush needs some more color and vibrancy to live up to its name. Didn't find the winner here, so I'll keep on looking!
